Exploring the Cities of Brevard - Satellite BeachSatellite Beach? The name may bring a question to mind, even if you haven’t every heard of it. Satellite Beach is one of the jewels in Brevard County’s crown. This small coastal city is perfectly seated between the Atlantic Ocean and the Indian River. As a part of the Melbourne-Titusville Metropolitan area, Satellite Beach is a wonderful city to visit or call home in Brevard. Satellite Beach boasts a plethora of outdoor activities – from sunning, swimming, snorkeling, and surfing along the oceanfront beaches, to fishing, golfing, tennis, volleyball, and more.

The city is ideally placed, south of world-famous Cocoa Beach and north of beloved Melbourne Beach, which means residents have easy access to all the amenities of the barrier islands and the mainland via the causeways. Satellite Beach boasts a population of only 11,000, and is among the largest of Brevard’s coastal communities. The coastal city offers a number of shopping and dining venues, an abundance of parks, recreation and sports fields, as well entertainment and the arts including festivals, concerts, and more. These, along with fishing piers and boat ramps make Satellite Beach the perfect oasis for laid back outdoor living.

Local festivals include the annual Ocean, Reef, and Beach Festival as well as the annual Holiday Boat Parade. At Pelican Beach Park, residents and visitors can find excellent facilities with lifeguards on duty, a clubhouse along with lots of local events and surfing competitions. In addition, Hightower Beach and Hangar Beach, are also great family areas, not too crowded and great for shelling, swimming, and exploring (with care) the historic loggerhead turtle nesting grounds.  Satellite Beach is also home to great boutique shopping in quirky and quaint establishments.

Exploring the native flora and fauna at the area parks makes spots like the Berkley Canal Manatee Observation Point the perfect places to see manatees, dolphins, birds, and other wildlife in their natural habitat. Exploring the region on the water via an eco-adventure tour means you’ll see even more, including alligators, wild hogs, manatees, bald eagles, ospreys, gopher tortoises, scrub jays, and more as well as many salt and wind tolerant native plants like the beautiful sea oats and the sabal palmettos.

Families will also enjoy the close proximity of the Brevard Zoo, Space Coast Stadium, the Kennedy Space Center, and other popular local sites. Satellite Beach is also only a short drive from all that Orlando has to offer including the Disney Parks, Sea World, and more.

The region is also home to excellent schools, rated 3rd in the state, and boasting a 10-year “A” district rating. The area is also home to the Florida Institute of Technology and satellite campuses of Eastern Florida State College and the University of Florida. Brevard County also promises easy access to state of the art healthcare at Viera Health Park. The cutting-edge facility features Health First Viera Hospital with its surgical, diagnostic, laboratory, and emergency services as well as Pro-Health and Fitness showcasing the latest in exercise equipment as well as a gym, indoor track, and pools.

In beautiful Satellite Beach, there are homes to fit every budget including townhomes from the mid $100s to $3 million waterfront single family estates with average listing prices between the $400s and $500s. Featured communities include Lansing Island, Tortoise Island, Montecito, and others. Among Satellite Beach homes, you’ll find oceanfront, canal front, and riverfront properties with breathtaking views. Most Satellite Beach homes feature open floor plans, with balconies or lanais designed for indoor/outdoor living at its best.
