Are you single and looking to mingle? The following cities in Brevard County are home to the largest percentages of unmarried singles. 45% of the people living in Brevard are single, but parts of the county contain larger percentages of singles than others.
USA Today recently assessed local population studies published by the U.S. Census Bureau and Neilson Surveys to compile a list of areas in Brevard with the highest concentrations of single folks who have never been married before. Total populations were taken in consideration with the highest number of eligible bachelors and bachelorettes. We’ve listed the cities in order, starting with the highest percentage of singles.
Cocoa and Rockledge were lumped together for the top spot after researchers uncovered a mass of singles living in an unincorporated area of Brevard between Cocoa and Rockledge. The numbers were so high they decided to group these two cities into one. Around 45% of the population in Cocoa and Rockledge are single people who have never been married before. USA Today also conducted in-person interviews with local singles who said they regularly go to restaurants, bars and events held in Cocoa Village.
To make the area even more appealing to singles, local housing is relatively affordable and offers a lot of bang for your buck. It’s close to Eastern Florida State College and it’s a quick drive to the beach. Plus, there are a lot of job opportunities thanks to big name companies in the area.
Melbourne is one of the busiest cities in Brevard and it is also home to a lot of singles. In fact, 33% of the population is single. That makes it the second-best city for singles to find their soulmate. Makes sense considering Melbourne is home to plenty of shopping and a thriving downtown area with easy access to the beach.
Viera is well-known for attracting young families, but according to the numbers there are also a lot of singles in the area. 31% of Viera’s population list single as their status. There’s a lot of new construction going up in the area, attracting even more people to the area.
Around 31% of Titusville’s population is single, making it the fourth best spot for singles to relocate. The downtown section of the city continues to grow and attract younger single people. There are also lots of outdoor activities to enjoy and many job opportunities—including jobs at the Kennedy Space Center. Housing remains affordable despite all that Titusville offers.
West Melbourne is growing at a faster rate than any other city in Brevard, which might help explain why 28% of the population is single/never married. Downtown Melbourne is practically around the corner, as is the Florida Institute of Technology. The area is home to a lot of shopping, so it’s a good thing there are plenty of opportunities for employment. Large companies in the area include Northrop Grumman, Harris, and several aviation companies stationed at the Orlando-Melbourne International Airport.
